Berkeley Urban Village Neighborhood  ~ Northwest Denver Colorado
Berkeley Row | Berkeley Twins | King Lofts | Lofts At Berkeley Park | Y44 Flats
Condos | Lofts | Townhomes | Flats | Condominiums | Townhouses | For Sale

Berkeley Farm was established in 1879 by John Walker. Walker together with Dr. William Bell organized the Berkeley Farm and Cattle Company in 1885. Berkeley Lake was developed as a water reservoir on the northern portion of the farm.

Walker donated 50-acres of land to the Jesuits in 1887 leading to the eventual development of nationally-regarded Regis College. The farm was sold in 1888 to real estate developers with plans to develop residential subdivisions.

In 1892, the town of North Denver was incorporated including the Berkeley farm land of approximately 1,500-acres. The town changed its name to Berkeley in 1898. Commercial development was intentionally limited to the business district established on Tennyson Street to maintain a quiet residential experience. In 1902, Berkeley was annexed to Denver.

Berkeley was slow to develop from the 1900s through the 1940s. Most of the residential growth occurred in the 1950s and 1960s.

Berkeley is approximately 10-minutes from Downtown. Given this proximity, young urbanites are discovering Berkeley for its affordability. An art district has been established on Tennyson Street and restaurants, shops, cafes, and coffee houses are opening with the influx of new people. You can also find organic grocers, bookstores, theater and cinema.

Berkeley is home to both Berkeley Lake and the Rocky Mountain Lake Park where you can enjoy a variety of activities including basketball, fishing, swimming, soccer, tennis and more.

Berkeley’s tree-lined streets are charming with brick Bungalows, Denver Squares and English Tudors. With Berkeley’s renewal, new construction of condominiums, lofts and townhomes has followed.

Berkeley offers you pedestrian-friendly urban neighborhood living!
